Argentina[edit | edit source]

The first postage meter was placed into use in 1926. All stamps contain “REPUBLICA ARGENTINA” in the frank. Instead of a meter number they contain a permit number. The permit number usually has prefix “PERMISO” or “PERM.” with “No.” or “N” and sometimes occurs without prefix.

The stamps are grouped according to appearance and function as follows:

B - Small upright rectangle with simulated perforation border, value in lower left corner with emanating rays
C - Wide rectangle with pillars at sides
D - Upright rectangle with simulated perforation outer and straight line inner border, REPUBLICA ARGENTINA in arc, FRANQUEO/PAGADO at bottom, P# below value

Sub-group PO-B: Frank and TM are both plain rectangles. The TM has slightly rounded corners.[edit | edit source]
